Discuss: Farewell Mambo 4.5!

Discuss this announcement: http://forum.mambo-foundation.org/sh...ad.php?p=52776

Its the end of an era folks!
Mambo 4.5 was first released in December 2003 under the leadership of Robert Castley. The stable release came out on Christmas Eve and was a really exciting Christmas gift to those of us who were using Mambo back then.

I remember thinking it was close to being everything I personally needed in a CMS and little did I know that over 5 years later I would still be working with Mambo. For four years, Mambo 4.5.x has served my sites well so it is kinda sad to be saying goodbye, even though I have been using Mambo 4.6.x for over a year.

There are some wonderful things coming with Mambo but I will always have fond memories for the release that really got me hooked on Mambo.

But, its time to move on and as some around here say:
Mambo On!

Re: Discuss: Farewell Mambo 4.5!

Because I am using Mambo since a year, I joined in when 4.6.1 was just released. For that reason I do not have much sentimental feelings about the 4.5.x branch. All I ever had to do with that series was doing rather tedious upgrades of other peoples sites and missing functions that I was used to in the 4.6.x series (the Universal Installer, the MostLyce Editor, the comment system, the translation, and more of the "4.6" add-ons)

So my predominant feeling is one of joy. I have seen 4.7 and am thrilled by the progress. Now that 4.5 is "buried" all of our precious time can be spend on our new "babies". Go Mambo!

Riferimento: Discuss: Farewell Mambo 4.5!

What a coincidence. A couple of years ago I released a free template for Mambo 4.5 named "Sunset" like the latest release.

I have used Mambo 4.5 for about three years and I'll miss it. :°°
