Admin cannot change user groups

After a lot of work I'm about to launch my Mambo site but have a major problem, I cannot change the status of a registered user to that of author. A message appears saying 'passwords do not match'. The users pasword field is complete (with asterisks) but the verify password field is empty. As I do not know the user's password I cannot upgrade their status.
Is this a known problem? I cannot find any reference to it on the forum. Can anyone offer assistance? Thanks.

I haven't seen this reported with any other sites (thats not to say its unique to yours, just that I havent come across it ). If you have access to your database you should be able to change the passwords there, and directly alter the user to the user group you want.

I'm not sure what could be causing the problem you have unfortunately.

Thanks for replying Elpie. I've just resolved the problem by using a different browser to administrate (Safari). It is apparently an issue with Firefox 2 on a mac.

Thanks for letting us know KatyJon. Aren't those browser bugs frustrating things? Sheesh!
