Cannot edit a section
greetings
I am an administrator, yet I cannot edit, or unpublish, one of the two sections on a site I am trying to administer. NB it's currently published and is NOT checked out, and the section is hyperlinked (with #edit), but doesnt open. Other colleagues set the content up originally and their admin details have been removed - could this be the reason? All suggestions gratefully received! Kind regards watfordkev |

Re: Cannot edit a section
Kevin,
As Administrator, you should be able to add, delete, publish, and unpublish any sections, categories, or content on the site. Can I assume that you can edit &/or unpublish the other section? Go to Site|UserManager, click on your name and see if your access level group is set as Manager, Admin or Super Admin. Any of these should be able to do what you're trying to do though and, if you aren't in one of these 3 groups, you wouldn't have access to the Admin panel. See this explanation: http://mambo-manual.org/display/admi...+Access+Levels Just curious if any Super Administrator is listed.

Re: Cannot edit a section
hi mamtom
there are three users including myself - we all have 'admin' level which seems to be the top level in the site manager - the only other setting in 'Backend' being that of 'manager' (nb we are running 4.5). I can indeed edit and unpublish the other section - really strange.

Re: Cannot edit a section
Kevin,
This shouldn't affect your issue, but you should update to the latest (4.6.5) version of Mambo, available by clicking the Downloads tab above and clicking the Files link on the left of the page. Go to page 2. Mambo has another user group, known as Super Admin. However, only Super Admins can see themselves and other SAs in the Site Users list. Presumably, the person who originally set up the site has SA privileges. Do you have access to the database with full permissions? If so, you might be able to see the SA there. With the right DB permissions, you should also be able to edit the section there. Not the easiest way to do it. Just had a thought ... Go to Content|SectionManager and take a peek at the access level defined for that section. Can you change it by clicking the icon in the Access column?

Re: Cannot edit a section
Mamtom
first I must apologise - I now realise I should have posted this under the 4.5 section. I do not have a 'SectionManager' option under 'Content' tab. Again, apologies for my mistake!

Re: Cannot edit a section
No apology necessary Kevin. I went ahead and moved the thread.
However, I strongly urge you to upgrade your installation to version 4.6.5. There have been a number of important changes, some of which (IIRC) were security changes that could compromise your site.
