Wiki needs editing please

To all doc team members

I have completed the new themes for the wiki which should make it easier for people to find content. However, the new themes (there are several in use there) have one big difference to the default Confluence theme - they provide for proper document structure.

This means that all page titles are now set to use h1 heading tags. It also means that every single page in the wiki needs a quick edit because until now, heading tags had to be added manually.

I have updated all pages in the man space, which contains the front page information. All other spaces need to be updated. So, the h1. tags need to be changed to h2. and depending on content, existing h2. tags may need to be changed to h3.

I will keep working away at this as time permits but we really need the doc team to help out with this please. (It's also a good opportunity to mark any articles that need updating - there is quite a lot there that is only relevant to Mambo 4.5 and as we are starting to add content for Mambo 4.7 we really need to make it clear which articles apply to which versions of Mambo).

Re: Wiki needs editing please

I have completed the Manual (front page space) of the wiki and also the Installation and Configuration, and Administration spaces.

I will do the developer space next if I get some time this week. Anyone want to volunteer to do the "Mambo for Beginners" space?
These are the two that really should be done next, based on the viewing patterns of the visitors to the wiki.

With an average 3500 unique visitors a day viewing the wiki we really need to get onto this pretty quickly. Apart from the heading tags, I have noticed that in restoring the database after it got trashed some of the links (particularly to external sites) have gone missing. Also, when I first created the wiki in 2005 I was using Mediawiki and hierarchy of pages was not important - a flat structure worked well on that software. It doesn't now and since I implemented a tree navigation structure the deficiencies in grouping content are obvious. I will attend to the structure next week.

Update:
I have managed to complete another space (Administration) and will keep on going as time permits.
The space that seems to be the most badly damaged by the data restore is the developer space. Each page needs to be checked for content, not just formatting so I would really appreciate some help from devs with this please.

Re: Wiki needs editing please

The only remaining space to be updated for formatting is the Developer space.

I have completed all other spaces (254 pages updated) and added some more content along the way. The new navigation shows where we have gaps in our documentation and some of these gaps (such as how to hide/show modules) were topics that have been asked on the forum so I wrote about them. eg. http://mambo-manual.org/display/tpl/...lay+of+Modules

Mike - I am going to have to leave the last space for someone else to do. I have concerns over some of the content where PHP examples appear to have gone missing when the db was rebuilt so that space will, I think, need to be a collaboration between the dev team and doc team.
